In the 2024 season, a young rookie pilot is making waves in the Drone Champions League (DCL).

His name is Miron Cheremnykh, better known in the drone racing world as “RedSheep.” At just nine years old, this talented Russian pilot competes with the Spanish team, the Spanish Drone Team, and delivers an impressive performance that has been key to one of the best seasons in the team’s history.

From his first day in the league, Miron has demonstrated remarkable growth, with a standout performance in the Split 2 finals, where his contributions were crucial to the success of Spain Drone Team. In a competition where each pilot’s role is vital, RedSheep has proven to be an essential asset, working closely with his teammates, from captain Silvio to the team’s newest pilots, forming a solid unit that has allowed them to compete toe-to-toe with the world’s best teams.

Who is RedSheep?

Miron Cheremnykh, also known as “RedSheep,” began racing drones at the age of seven, inspired by his older brother, Platon. Just five months after his first practice on the DCL simulator, he claimed first place in the Russian Educational and Youth Institutions League. This milestone marked the beginning of a promising career.

At just eight years old, Miron was already flying 5- and 7-inch racing drones, building experience and standing out in both national and international competitions. In the summer of 2024, he participated in Russia’s national competition “Pilots of the Future,” placing second among over 1,000 pilots, and he continued to achieve podium placements in local competitions, securing a spot in the 7-inch category at a drone racing event in Moscow.

His Journey to Spain Drone Team and the DCL

At the beginning of 2024, Spain Drone Team started planning for the season and took notice of Platon Cheremnykh. During discussions with his father, the name of Miron, his younger brother, came up—a young pilot with just 40 hours on the simulator but already displaying exceptional talent. The team’s managers and captains, recognizing his potential despite his age, were quick to offer Miron an opportunity to join. This was not new for the team, which had previously launched the careers of young pilots like Alex Zamora.

Since joining, Miron has continually gained prominence in the DCL. His role in Split 1 grew steadily, and he was ultimately selected as one of the four pilots to fly in the final, achieving a second-place finish with the team—the Spain Drone Team’s best ranking up to that point. In Split 2, Miron became a regular on the team, delivering outstanding performances that helped Spain Drone Team secure second place again in the Split 2 final.

Miron trains with boundless energy and contagious enthusiasm, pushing the entire team to improve constantly. He even requests new training circuits to enhance his skills, always seeking to develop the areas where he can grow as a pilot.
